SUPPORTING SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The Library Supporting Services Department (SSD) is mainly responsible for Audiovisual,
Security and Maintenance services.
Audiovisual Services
The audiovisual collection consists of microfilms, microfiche and videocassettes.
Microforms mainly include back volumes of periodicals, research reports, theses,
dissertations, and newspapers and housed on the ground floor of the Main Library.
Details of microform holdings can be checked in the Library online catalog (HIP).
Audio/Videocassettes
The Library has a fairly large collection of videocassettes of scientific and technical
information, lectures, seminars, etc. They are fully cataloged and are accessible
through the online catalog. These can be either used in the library auditorium or
checked-out for use in other university facilities or at home. Academic departments
are encouraged to select suitable videocassettes required in support of their programs
so that the Library collection of videocassettes is enhanced and upgraded regularly.
Library Auditorium
The auditorium and the photo lab are located on the ground floor of the Library.
The photo lab is equipped to make overhead transparencies. It also houses the equipments
for using 16mm motion pictures, audio and videocassettes, film loops, videotapes,
slides, multimedia kits, transparencies and various other media. The university
community is encouraged to make use of the Library Auditorium, which can be booked
in advance by calling at telephone 860-3076 or sending an email:

In addition to A V services, the department is also providing camera surveillance
of the library and security coverage of the check-point. It is also responsible
for coordinating the maintenance work of the Library building & other facilities.
