Acquisition Department
The Acquisition Department is mainly concerned with the development of library collection
in a variety of formats, including printed and electronic books, theses and dissertations,
technical reports, large reference sets, media, and audio and video materials. The
major functions of the department include:
- Selection, ordering, and receiving of materials.
- Review of Collection.
- Weeding.
The library endeavors to achieve a balanced collection of highly selected materials
in support of academic and research programs of the University. It relies heavily
on the cooperation of academic departments, faculty, and graduate students in the
selection of materials, in particular the help received from the liaison members
nominated by the academic departments. The development of the collection is based
on a well defined acquisition policy and a subject profile of University programs,
which is revised from time to time. The participation of faculty and graduate students
in the selection of materials is encouraged. A book recommendation form is available
for this purpose
