First University Library in the Arabian Gulf region that started online searching of more than (500) databases using the Dialog and Orbit search services in 1979.

1985

One of the very few universities in the world that fully converted the card catalog into a computerized catalog in 1985.

Used BITNET to access and utilize all available electronic services (e-mail, listserv, and discussion groups) in 1987

1993

Introduced a Fiber Optics network in 1993
